If a relationship or job makes you unhappy, do you choose to stay or leave?

Now this one I can answer! Leave! Again and again, hence the Commitment book in my first post.  Life is just too short to stick at something which makes you miserable.  That’s not to say I believe you should quit at the first hurdle  though. I stuck at my marriage for 14 years  and I’ve just quit a job I’ve struggled with for 7. There does come a point when you have done everything you can and its become so negative it has to go.

I will always be grateful to my parents for teaching us to stick at tough things and that they can get better. I learnt this through learning to play piano and wanting so desperately to give up, but being forced to stick at it I came out the other side. I  learned to love it and love the hard work.

Sometimes I might stick at things too long. …!

When it comes to that kind of change, being decisive is important. It’s much harder for people to cope with the big change you’re proposing if you mess around and don’t get on with it.

Next question:  What do you fear about leaving a bad job or a bad relationship?

  1. You know I agree with you on this one. I think it’s so important to know when to walk away and when to stay and fight. Some people find it too easy to walk (or run) away and sometimes it takes huge courage not to walk but to stay and try. But when you’ve tried and tried or you just know that even if you stay it won’t be fulfilling then you owe it to yourself to move on. People learn and grow all the time so why not learn to embrace change and take that chance. You’ll gain more than you’ll lose!
